Azienda Butticè Luigi

The Tenute Butticè farm is a small and young family-run company, born from the conversion of the family land destined for vineyards into the cultivation of olive trees and pistachios. The cultivation techniques of the land remain faithful to the ancient ones, handed down from generation to generation, distinguishing itself from these only for the introduction to the present day of mechanical means, the company also boasts a cultivation of olive trees and pistachios that follows and reflects the criteria of the bio cultivation.

The farm’s soils are medium clayey soils, located near the Tre Fontane and San Giorgio fiefdoms in the Agrigento area, at an altitude of 300-400 meters above sea level. The cultivars of the olive tree are Nocellara, Biancolilla, Coratina and Cerasuola.

As far as the cultivation of pistachios is concerned, the prevailing cultivar is the Bianca Napoletana and the land falls within the area of the Pistachio di Raffadali Dop. Pistachios are grown on medium-loose soils and are therefore suitable. The climate of the island favors the cultivation of pistachios, its harvest takes place from the last weeks of August, then the hulling is carried out during which the fruit is deprived of the husk, after a period of dry in the sun (3-5 days), the fruit is shelled, ready for consumption or processing.
